Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need natural talent to learn to sing? No. Every voice can be trained. The singers who sound "naturally gifted" usually just have years of high-quality practice behind them, a mindset comfortable with making mistakes, and the freedom to actually explore what their voice can do. If you've never sung in front of anyone, or you've convinced yourself some people are just born with it and you weren't one of them, that's exactly who these lessons are built for.

Am I too old to start singing?

Not even slightly. Your voice is a muscle and a skill, not something with an age limit on learning it. Some of the biggest breakthroughs I see are with adults who've never sung before or haven't sung since school, because they bring patience and self-awareness that's genuinely useful for learning technique properly. There's no "right age" to start, only the decision to actually begin.

What does a vocal coach do? A vocal coach helps you understand how your voice actually works and how to improve it, whatever your starting point or goal. Sessions can cover:

  • Building confidence and losing self-consciousness about your voice

  • Developing range and technique

  • Breath control and vocal stamina

  • Tone, style, and pitch accuracy

  • Applying technique to real songs, not just scales

We work through real repertoire and songs as much as possible, so what you learn transfers directly to the singing you actually want to do, not just isolated exercises.

What happens in the free 20-minute vocal assessment?

We talk through your goals and what's frustrating you about your voice right now, then I run a short live assessment of where you're at. Afterward, I put together a full, personalised practice plan and send it to you via Google Doc, completely free, with no obligation to book anything further. It's the easiest way to find out exactly where to start. [Book your free assessment]

How long until I notice a difference? Every voice is different, but most students notice real changes within their first few sessions, especially once they have a clear, personalised practice plan to work from instead of guessing. Consistency matters more than anything else, which is exactly why weekly lessons tend to produce the fastest, most noticeable progress.

How much do singing lessons cost? After your free assessment, ongoing lessons are:

  • £60 per session for weekly lessons (Most Popular, since consistent weekly practice gets the fastest, most reliable results)

  • £65 per session for fortnightly lessons

  • £70 for a one-off lesson with no ongoing commitment

Do you teach online or in person? Both. Most lessons are online and open to students anywhere, using video call technology that works genuinely well for developing technique, assessing your voice, and tracking progress. In-person sessions are also available in Bromley, UK, for anyone who prefers face-to-face lessons.

How often should I have lessons?

Weekly is what I'd recommend for almost everyone, especially when you're newer to this. Regular, consistent sessions are what actually build momentum and stop you drifting off track between lessons. Fortnightly works well too if you want more time to bed in what you've learned, but weekly is where most students see the fastest, most reliable progress.

What experience or equipment do I need to get started?

None. Complete beginners are genuinely welcome, and there's no judgment here, ever. For online lessons, all you need is a quiet space and a device with a camera and microphone.

What's your background and training?

I'm a professional touring musician with over a decade of experience, playing hundreds of gigs a year, from London and across the UK to festival stages in Genova, the Alps, Croatia, Australia, and San Diego. I've worked with everyone from complete beginners to major label artists and touring professionals, so wherever you're starting from, you're in experienced hands. I'm trained through BAST and Teach Voice Training and my teaching style is compassionate and organised: I'll always explain why we're doing something, build you a proper practice routine, and hold you accountable to it.

What's your cancellation policy?

Weekly and fortnightly students have a reserved recurring slot. If you need to cancel or reschedule, just give at least 48 hours' notice and I'll do my best to find you an alternative slot that week. Less than 48 hours' notice means the session is forfeited.

What styles or genres do you teach? I work with singers across genres and levels, pop, rock, singer-songwriter, and more, from complete beginners building confidence for the first time to gigging professionals refining a demanding technique.
